What certification do I need for a computer job?

Our Computer Jobs Training Program includes a number of courses. You do not need to take all of these courses in order to be qualified for employment as a computer professional or as a PC Repair Technician. The A+ certification training course is the only training you need in order to become a qualified PC Repair Technician. The term PC stands for personal computer. Once you have completed the A+ certification training, EDULEARN will schedule a free complimentary exam (a $69 value) which will earn you a certificate.

Industry Certification (CompTIA A+)

For students who want to receive an industry-wide certification credential that demonstrates to potential employers such as IBM, HP, Dell and Microsoft that they are certified to work as help desk PC technicians and technical support staff, the CompTIA A+ exam can be scheduled and taken at authorized testing centers throughout the world. Please contact EDULEARN prior to purchasing our course to determine whether a testing center is located close to you. Once you have been through all of the A+ video training, hands-on lab exercises, and practice exams covered in this A+ training course, you are ready to take the A+ exams.

Don't just invest in training, invest in your career

This CompTIA Training Bundle provides a complete career training solution to become A+, Network+, and Security+ certified, all for one low price and investment in your career. Whether you are new to the computer field, or have been working in the information technology (IT) field for some time, but need to become certified, you’ll find the instructor-led multimedia Video Training, Hands-on Lab Exercises, and Practice Exams in these suites to be the most effective tools available in getting you quickly on your way to certification. This comprehensive training suite includes hands-on labs that simulate a $30,000 corporate network, enabling you to gain real-world, hand-on experience before your first day on the job.

How to structure your training

Students who are new to the IT field can get certified in as little as 3 to 6 weeks per course. Students are encouraged to spend on average 2 hours of studies per day. Our recommended course of study should start with the CompTIA A+ Certification Training which prepares the student to become a certified PC (Personal Computer) Technician. Students with the CompTIA A+ Certification will be able to diagnose and fix computer related problems. Next, the student should study for the CompTIA Network+ certification exam in order to understand computer networks and thereafter Security+ to help secure corporate networks. The more you know, the more valuable you become to your employer.

Industry-Leading PC Pro LabsTM for CompTIA A+ Certification

Our industry-leading labs are designed to give you professional hands-on PC Hardware and Software experience in a simulated environment. The simulators include:

  • Hardware EnvironmentTM - Work on personal computers (PC) just like a PC technician would to perform everyday PC repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks. New diagnostic tools include memory tester and power supply tester for hardware repairs.
  • Software EnvironmentTM - The simulators have been upgraded to now support the Windows 7 environment giving the student knowledge of this new operating system.
  • Corporate Office EnvironmentTM - Working in a simulated office environment, you will be required to complete tasks on several computers in different offices. For example, you may be asked to set up a network printer in one location. You may then be required to configure your manager's computer at another location to select the network printer as his default printer.

Industry-Leading Network Pro LabsTM for Network+ Certification

Our industry-leading labs are designed to give you professional hands-on networking experience. They include the following simulated environments:

  • Hardware EnvironmentTM - Configure network devices, switches, routers, wireless access points, and much more in a simulated hardware environment.
  • Software EnvironmentTM - Perform Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 Operating Systems configuration tasks in an open simulated environment.
  • Locations EnvironmentTM - Three custom-tailored locations allow you to become intimately familiar with building a network and the typical devices used in each location.

The Most Realistic and Effective Learning Experience Possible

Get the most up-to-date CompTIA A+ and related certification training in 2014! The A+ courseware has been updated to now integrate our hardware simulations with our OS (Operating System) simulations. This allows for more realistic configuration and troubleshooting scenarios. For example, in order to install a NIC (Network Interface Card) you must first turn off the computer and physically install the NIC. Once installed, you will then boot up the computer and log into Windows in order configure the new NIC. In the actual simulations this translates to a virtual work bench with accessories (NICs, Video Cards, Printers, Cables, etc.) and virtual PCs (Personal Computers) that can either be configured physically on the work bench or logged into and configured within the Windows environment. This allows us to push our simulations to the next level where they're not only aware of the Windows environment; but also the physical state of the PC as well as any configuration changes a student makes.

Video Training

You are going to love the fact that you feel like you’re in a classroom with your instructor at the whiteboard. Your instructor will cover everything you need to know to pass your certification exam. His personable approach of using analogies and humor will simplify the subject matter, and help you grasp the concepts. You will also enjoy the format of the videos, which lets you rewind and fast forward so you can review difficult concepts as many times as you like, allowing you to learn and retain much more.

Video Training Resources:

Video Instruction: A certified instructor introduces every learning module and previews the topics that are covered. Rather than relying on written introductions, click on the video presentations for an interesting summary of the concepts you will be learning from an instructor that really knows the material.
Animations: Animations & illustrative graphics combine to explain complex topics and tasks. Concepts that are not easily explained, are clearly presented using multimedia elements. Everyone has their own learning style, and by using a variety of multimedia learning exercises, LabSim helps you learn in the way you are most comfortable.
Fact Sheets: These facts sheets present useful tables and supplemental information to help you review key concepts and to round off the topics covered in the section.
Instructional Graphics: A picture can speak a thousand words. Difficult concepts are presented in animated or graphical form.
Dictionary: Not familiar with a technical term you find in the course? You have instant access to hundreds of technical terms & definitions, all in a searchable database with the technical dictionary. There are hundreds of new terms associated with information technology, and the LabSim dictionary helps you learn their meanings in a quick and efficient manner.
Bookmarks: Need to exit your training for a while? You can quickly reference areas of study you wish to revisit at a later time using bookmarks. If there is a particular topic that you need to pay special attention to, simply use the bookmark feature so you can spend the time you need to master the concept.
Notepad: Record notes or questions for later reference with the useful notepad feature. If you need to remind yourself of something while studying, click on the notepad and type your thoughts without ever having to lift a pencil.

Lab Exercises

The hands-on labs are the heart and soul of LabSim. You will build real-world job skills, validate acquired knowledge, and gain experience. The labs give you the equivalent of 2 years of technical experience in performing tasks such as installation, configuration, diagnosing, administration, and troubleshooting. These broadly-functional simulations also let you make mistakes and try several methods to get the correct outcome. These are the lessons only experience can teach.

Lab Exercise Resources:

Demonstrations: Demonstrations are video-based instructions that are designed to teach students how to perform certain tasks. Watch and listen as the instructor demonstrates and explains complex configuration techniques. Demonstrations are powerful instructional tools when combined with open simulations.
Real-world Scenarios: These scenarios require you to think through a difficult problem. They are designed to improve troubleshooting skills.
Intelligent Simulations: Open simulations are critical to the learning process. They model a real system and let students perform the same tasks they would perform on the real system. Open simulations let students explore alternate solutions for completing a task, and view the consequences of specific actions. Students learn through trial and error instead of being guided through specific steps.
Detailed Reporting: While you are attempting to perform the assigned tasks our simulations are watching what you do. Once you click the done button, a report is generated which identifies which of the critical tasks you completed and which you did not.
Explanation and Expert Steps: If you need additional help accomplishing the tasks our expert steps can help. These explanations walk you through steps to accomplish the task - based on the advice of our technical experts.

Practice Exams

The only practice exam that will measure and validate your skills, knowledge, and experience. LabSim practice exams let you:

  • Measure your knowledge and experience
  • Identify areas that you need to improve with links to course content
  • Get detailed feedback for each question
